Christmas Party Hairstyling- Melissa Z

Make-up artist Melissa Z. with Pretty in Pink asked if I could do her hair for her husband's Christmas party. I was excited- I've never done her hair in all the time we've worked together. :)

She wanted to have it up in a side-swept updo. She was so happy with the end result. She said it was her favourite updo she's ever had. :) I think it turned out pretty well myself.

Here are some pictures:

I just LOVED the feather hairpiece that she picked up for the party, too!

Weddings for the Weekend of October 23 & 24- Joanna, Kim and Stephanie

Joanna was my first bride of the weekend. I was there bright and early Saturday morning- and I use that term loosely because it was dark for most of my time there- which made doing her make-up a challenge. This was another wedding that I had with Pretty in Pink. The bride was absolutely glowing- she couldn't have been happier! I loved the way that she wanted her hair done, in a side-swept updo with "lots of volume". I only wish I had taken some pictures of her in her blusher hairpiece once I had put it in. It was stunning- a beautiful flower nestled in a bow of french netting with feathers...beautiful! And, it went so well with the hairstyle.

Update: I received a picture of Joanna's hair with the blusher in. Beautiful!

The bridesmaid below was the only bridesmaid that I got a chance to take a picture of. She had wanted her hair down, even though I recommended that she wear it up. Her hair was quite fine and it was humid that day- I just didn't want all the curls to be gone before the ceremony! At the last minute, she sat in my chair and said-"you were right- I want it up!" So, I put it up in about 5 minutes flat! I think it turned out pretty well, all things considered.

The second wedding of the day was Kim's. I did her trial a couple of weeks ago. She was another wedding I had through Pretty in Pink. Kim had gotten married in Australia in September, and was home to have a reception, or pretty much 'a second wedding'. She had really like everything about the trial and had gushed that she "wished that I had been in Australia for her first ceremony". Here are some pictures of Kim on her wedding day. I did her hair and her make-up.

*UPDATE* This a "thank-you" I received from Kim:

Thank-you so much for making this day so enjoyable. My make-up and "up-do" were perfect! I am so glad to have found you. You are amazing at what you do.

Kind regards,
                           Kim

*How nice, here are Kim's pictures:

Sunday's wedding, Stephanie's, was actually an engagement party- but it was on the scale of a wedding. Apparantly the engagement party is a really big deal and is when she will receive "her rock" (her engagement ring). Surrounded by her closest friends and family. Beautiful. Her wedding day is July 31st 2011. Blog for that wedding to follow.

Stepanie's mom wanted her hair to be up in a high updo, with larger, chunkier curls left out in the front.

Wedding October 17th- Angela

This was another wedding I did with make-up artist Melissa Z with her company Pretty in Pink. We met Angela and her attendants at a hotel on the Hamilton Mountain and she was getting married at Dundurn Castle. At her trial, we tried more a Victorian look but for her wedding day, Angela decided to go with a more voluminous look, with more curls left down on the sides and back. I think she made the right choice. She was a beautiful bride! Here are some pictures of Angela and her wedding party.

*UPDATE* Here is a "thank-you" I recently received from Angela:

Hello Melissa and Melissa!!

I would just like to thank you both for the amazing job you did on our hair and makeup. You guys did such a wonderful job, everyone looked fantastic!! We were all so pleased with what you did and we received
many compliments on our hair and makeup that day.

Thank you so much for being so nice and patient with all of us, especially with me since I wasn't too sure what I wanted. The hair and makeup you guys did on me was perfect and I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Thank you for making me feel like a princess on my special day!

Kindest regards,
Angela, her bridesmaids and mother

* So nice! Now, here are Angela's pictures.

Her cousin (below) wanted to have a similar look: half-up with curls.

The bridesmaid below had short hair that hit between her chin and her shoulders. You'd never know it when I had it put up- she looked like she had long hair when I was finished!

The bridesmaid below had short and fine hair that never seems to hold curl. She thought, and I agreed, that it would be best to put it all up. That way, she wouldn't have to worry about the curls falling out throughout the day. Again, look at how much hair it looks like she has!

Wedding October 16th- Mareika

This was another wedding that I had with Pretty in Pink. It was a beautiful venue, and an amazingly beautiful day. Mareika had decided to have 2 trials. After her first trial, she found a picture of a bride's hair that she liked better than the first style that we tried, and it look gorgeous on her. It was a softer look and suited her features perfectly. And, her hairpeice was absolutely stunning. Here are some pictures of Mareika and her wedding party.

**Update** This is a "thank-you that I received from Mareika:

Dear Melissa,

I just wanted to thank-you for the job you did styling my hair for the wedding. It was exactly what I asked for and it looked beautiful.

Many, many thanks,

Mareika

Her Maid-of-Honour (below) wanted to wear her hair half-up with a lot of volume on top. Think Carrie Underwood, not crazy 80's volume.

Her bridesmaid (below) opted for long loose curls. These were done going through section-by-section with the flat-iron.

Trial Oct. 12th for Wedding Oct. 23rd

This is a trial that I had through Pretty in Pink . The bride, Kim, and her husband were married a few weeks ago in Australia. They are now having a reception- practically another wedding- here in Canada on the 23rd. She showed me pictures of the hair and make-up that she had done in Australia and we talked about ways that I may do things a little differently. In the end, she was so happy with here hair and make-up, she said that she wished that I had been in Australia for the first ceremony! What a compliment! Here are some trial photos of Kim.

October 10th Wedding- Heather

Heather and her whole family are dear friends of ours. In fact, my husband Jamie Robertson was one of the officiants of the wedding. It was so special to be there, the morning of Heather's wedding, doing the hairstyling for her, her sisters, her maid-of-honour and her mother. Here are some pictures of Heather's big day.

Heather (bride-above) designed and made her own gown using vintage lace! The hair-style she chose went perfectly with the theme of the wedding. There are pictures of Heather's hair trial from a couple of months ago at the bottom of the page.

Stephanie (above) couldn't believe how much curl we go into her hair. Or how well it lasted!

Denise (above) wanted a side-swept updo and loved how it all blended together on the side.

Here are some pictures of Heather's trial from a few months ago. She also made her own bird-cage veil. What talent!
